Schedule
We get it – finding time to relax in today’s fast-paced world can feel impossible. Schedules are jam-packed with meetings, deadlines, our kids’ after-school activities, and social activities, making it hard to find the time to slow down for a bit. However, relaxation is important for maintaining mental and physical well-being. Having the ability (and the time!) to relax can improve your mood, lower your blood pressure, and improve sleep quality.
Relaxation isn’t built in to the world we live in today, which is why it is important to consciously carve out time to get some much-deserved you-time. Check out the strategies below for ways to build in relaxation time!
- Prioritize your self-care. We hear this all the time, but it’s true – setting boundaries for when you plan to rest and recharge is a great way to build in some relaxation time.
- Use a microbreak. Not all self-care has to take long – even busy people can find the time to schedule in, say, a short mental health walk to break up their day and ground themselves.
- Disconnect from technology. The digital world is great – in moderation. Scheduling time to unplug can recharge your own mind and body.
- Seek support. We can’t do it all along. During busy times, having people to lean on is essential – schedule a phone call with a friend you keep meaning to catch up with, or schedule in a couple family dinners a week.
Relaxing isn’t a luxury – it is essential to your overall well-being. Carve out some time to slow down!
